The site for the new Amaroo Primary School is located in this newly developed Gungahlin suburb at the junction of Katherine and Burdekin Avenues. Manteena was engaged by the ACT Government under Project Management arrangements to manage the development of the design from Final Sketch Plan stage and complete the construction of the project in time for the beginning of the school year in January 2004.
This project is the second stage of the program of works to construct the new Gungahlin School, which is a combined Pre-School, Primary School, Middle School and High School on one site. The combined school model is a new concept for the ACT Department of Education, Youth & Family Services and is to encourage smooth transitions through primary and secondary education stages with one Principal responsible for the entire school. The Library, sport and recreational and food services facilities are shared facilities.
The project was awarded to Manteena in March 2003 with completion in time for the commencement of the school at the beginning of the first term of the 2004 school year.
