Manteena were engaged to undertake a renovation and extension of an old Deakin cottage. The extension integrates seamlessly with the works that have been completed in the original part of the home, creating an oasis that makes you completely forget you are in Canberra’s Inner South upon entering the front door.
Extension works consisted of the new entry, master suite, kitchen and dining area, outdoor Alfresco area, powder room, butler’s pantry and sunken lounge.
The house is framed by beautiful, curved steel windows, and herringbone flooring runs throughout the home, connecting the old with the new.
A feature ceiling sits over the sunken lounge space, which looks directly out to the pool and Alfresco area which has been set up as a key focal point of the home.
The kitchen boasts segmented curved stone ends on the main island bench, cut from a single piece of stone.
The master features an expansive ensuite, walk in robe and bedroom large enough to include a sitting area, bringing the perfect balance of cosiness and luxury.
Significant structural works to the existing cottage were required to allow for the additional works.
