Manteena were engaged for this highly important and politically sensitive security upgrade due to our renowned expertise in security related projects and working within occupied buildings. Parliament House is a very challenging place to work with numerous stakeholders and constantly changing work environments. Manteena’s flexibility, innovation in developing architecturally compliant and buildable security solutions resulted in the security upgrade works remaining on programme and fitted in seamlessly with the buildings heritage requirements.
All 19 upgrade locations within the APH G1 Enhancement project involved cutting edge designs and the use of bespoke custom-designed security products, including force protection and ballistic and blast protection measures. Throughout the project, Manteena drove this innovative process through extensive research of available suppliers, early engagement with industry and highly detailed management overlay to ensure these “working prototypes” were delivered to specification and within the project budget. The continual refinement of designs and requirements was incorporated, wherever possible, often with the finished product performing at a much higher standard than was initially required.
In addition, the continual challenges of working within an extremely busy and restrictive environment with a large and varied stakeholder group made programming particularly challenging. Manteena’s ability to provide flexible and pragmatic solutions to meet the requirements of the stakeholders greatly assisted in reducing the impact of the building occupants and therefore, providing a more streamlined project delivery.
The resultant delivered product will enhance the security of Australia’s most important building, and has set the standard for high security construction in existing high grade buildings.
