Samoan Prime Minister’s Visit

19 July 2018

Samoan Parliament House |

The Honourable Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi, Prime Minister of Samoa, and Her Excellency Sara Moriarty, Australian High Commissioner to Samoa, recently inspected progress of the Samoa Parliament project.

Manteena Project Director, Peita de Boer, GMB Principal Architect, Hal Guida, and GMB Project Architect, Will Gardner, were all present in Apia to guide the dignitaries through the almost completed complex.

The project is jointly funded by the Government of Australia and the Government of Samoa.

The building is nearing completion with the incredible sense of light and space above the debating chamber becoming apparent with the scaffold recently removed, and the Prime Minster and High Commissioner were most impressed with the high quality of workmanship by the majority Samoan workforce on site. The project is seen as a key enabler for local capacity building in the construction industry, and the technology being integrated into the debating chamber will be a quantum leap forward and is intended to support parliamentary operations for the next 50 years.
